It is with heavy hearts that the family of John "Jack" Buckley, beloved husband of the late Carole (VanWart) Buckley, announces his passing, which occurred on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by those he loved. Born in Saint John on November 26, 1944, he was a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Banville) Buckley. Jack was a family man. He lived for spending time with loved ones and friends. He was an avid bowler, playing in the Woolco League for over 27 years, and he also enjoyed his monthly poker game with his best friends. He was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Saint John Sea Dogs. Jack will be missed by his daughters, Holly Moran (Michael) and Julie Culberson (Dan); a grandson, Connor Moran; his siblings, William Buckley (Susan), Leo Buckley (Margaret), Thomas Buckley (the late Gloria) and Janet Buckley; a sister-in-law, Brenda Buckley; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Buckley; and a sister Darlene Vautour (Al). The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff at 5CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital as well as Bobby’s Hospice for their compassionate care of Jack during his time with them. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
