Obituary of Carl Gilbert Nelson
The death of Carl Nelson occurred on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born June 6, 1934 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Percy M. and Mary Ann (Elliott) Nelson. Carl worked custodial at Moosehead Breweries for 35 years. He was witty, with a great sense of humour, and never missed the hockey games on television. He enjoyed going for walks and watching the horses at Exhibition Park, as well as attending the Saint John Exhibition each summer. Carl is survived by his wife, Kathy (Boyer); sisters, Irene Smythe and Connie Chase; brother, Burt (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Joan Nelson and Barb Melanson (Abby); and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Donna Logan; and brothers: Tommy, Bobby, and Ken. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Turnbull Home, where Carl has resided over the past few years, for their friendship and care, and to the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their exceptional care in Carl’s final days. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held in Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
