Obituary of Thomas Edward Doyle
With profound sadness and much love, the family of Thomas Edward "Ted" Doyle announces his death at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 25th, 2017. Tom was born in Saint John, N.B. in 1933 to the late Thomas and Mary (Parks) Doyle. He was predeceased by his brother Douglas, his niece Mary Anne Connors and Sister Marilyn "Teekie" Henderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Joan (McMurray); son, Thomas (Nancy Case); daughters Kim (Chris Warburton), Karen (Douglas Webster) and Susan (Darren Holt); sisters, Betty Connors, Mary Frances "Buck" (Joe Smith) and Patsy (Bob Driscoll); as well as several nieces and nephews. Tom will be much missed by grandchildren, Jamee Doyle (Ian Zanchetta), Jillian Gignac, Jena Doyle (Rob Purdy), Jeremy Doyle and Sophie Holt. Always the consummate gentleman, Tom lived his life with integrity and purpose. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "always keep busy" were his guiding principles. Tom was a kind, gentle and devoted husband and father. Tom began his career at Moosehead and later worked for many years as an inspector in the Insurance sector before retiring from Irving Oil. In his leisure time, he took great interest and pride in his admirable collection of antique glass and stoneware. Tom was eventually recognized as a local historian for his many years of extensive research on NB liquor merchants. Tom's family extend their gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the staff of the Cedar and Maple wings at the Loch Lomond Village and the Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with Visitation on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 2-8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from Brenan's Chapel on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 am. Remembrances may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society.
