Obituary of Sylvia Ileen Carr
Sylvia Ileen Carr 1923-2017 of Peoples Park Tower, 960 St. George Blvd, Moncton, N.B. passed away at the Moncton Hospital October 26th, 2017 surrounded by family. Born in Saint John, N.B., Sylvia was the daughter of Charles O’Dell and Marion O’Dell Dempster. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Sheila Dempster and Christina Carr; special cousin, Florence Watson; special nieces: Mary Lynn (Ray) Melanson, Karen (Charles Germann) Ballard, Leslie (Kevin Broad) Carr and Carla Dempster, the O’Dell’s: Alan (Carol), Sheila, Gerald and Glen, the Dempster’s: Darrell (Cheryl), Dwight (Jennifer), Derrick, the Galbraith cousins: Patricia (Joe), Sheila (Bob) and Charlotte (Harold) and Krista McKee. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Douglas F. Carr (1995); son, Dell (2002); daughter, Melodie (2002); brother, Eldon O’Dell (2009); brother, H. Vaughan Dempster (2015); and special cousins: Eleanor Jefferson-Knox, Ila Leigh, and Murray McKee. Sylvia was a member of the Lakeburn United Church and a life member of the United Church Women, a Brownie Leader, and curled for many years at the Beaver Club. She enjoyed travelling with Margaret O’Connor, Jeanne McNeil, Suzanne Bourque, and playing bridge with Peoples Park friends. Sylvia’s pet peeve was calling her tatting crocheting. If you received any of her tatting, you knew you were a friend. Cremation by Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Peoples Park Tower Saturday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. Rev. David Eagles will officiate. Tea following the service will be catered by Garden Terrace at Peoples Park Tower. A private interment will be held at the Lorneville Cemetery in Saint John, N.B. also officiated by Rev.
