Obituary of William Terrance Sullivan
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Terrance Sullivan of Woodman’s Point, N.B. on September 8th, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on September 8th, 1946, he was the son of the late Catherine Regina (Pye) Sullivan and the late Arthur Howard (Lutie) Sullivan. Bill was employed with Irving Paper for 35 years until his retirement in 2001 and achieved his level 4 power engineering certificate in 1997. Bill had a great passion for the outdoors and sports, especially, the Boston Red Sox and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Kierstead Mountain, fishing the waters of the NorEast brook and hunting. He had a special love for harness racing, travelling throughout the Maritimes and was also a horse owner. After retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time with his best friend and companion his dog Nic. He also developed a keen interest in geology. As a young boy in the 1950's, Bill was a member of Scouts Canada and was the youngest scout in the Maritimes to achieve the Queen's Scout Award, which is the highest youth award achievable in the scouting movement. He also served as an altar boy at St. Pius X church and was very strong in his faith which helped him throughout his final days. Bill is survived by his daughter Kelly Elizabeth Sullivan and granddaughter Carmen of Saint John, his brother John Sullivan of Saint John, sisters Jean Plagenz (Wally) of Barrie, Ontario and Barbara Vey (Hughie) of Saint John, nephews Gordie Plagenz (Anna), Terry Plagenz (Godson) and Chris Vey (Dina), great nephews Adam (Godson), Mike and Matt Plagenz, great nieces Hailey, Ashley, Katey and Lindsey Vey as well as many cousins. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Edward and Arthur Howard. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). As per the family’s request, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 12 PM. Interment to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the SPCA. Online condolences may be made at www.BrenansFH.com
