Obituary of David Clifford Almon
It is with great sadness that the family of David "Butch" Almon of Saint John, cherished husband of Linda (Smith) Almon announces his passing, which occurred on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home. Born on June 25, 1937 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Harold and Leona (McCormick) Almon. During his early working career, Butch was employed as a Stone Mason with M.T. Kane Monuments and Nelson Monuments. Butch retired in 2002 from Brunswick Bulk Transport, which was later renamed Trimac as a Mechanic after thirty years of loyal service. He loved listening to country music, camping with his best friend, Ronnie and fishing. Butch also enjoyed admiring antique cars and transport trucks. In addition to his loving wife of 50 years, Linda, Butch is also survived by their children, Chrissy Smith (Louie), Mark Almon (Beth) and David Almon Jr. (Barb); grandchildren, Sheldon, Ryan, David Tyler, Kayley, Kayana and Kathlene; precious great-grandson, Clyde; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special canine companion, Gizmo. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Bud, Normie and Donnie. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 6-8 PM and Friday, August 4, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.
