Obituary of Maureen Claire Watson
Maureen Claire Watson, 74, entered into eternal peace on September 12th, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by the people she laughed with, lived for, and loved. Maureen was born September 19th, 1942 to Leon Mooney and M. Mary (Floyd) Mooney. From a young age, Maureen excelled at singing and was a gifted soprano. She performed on local CHSJ shows as the Uncle Bill Show, Time for Juniors with Jeanne Woods, and Jeannely Yours. Maureen began her working career with London Life and then moved on to NBTel, selling advertising for the Yellow Pages. On September 17th, 1966, Maureen married her best friend, Gary R. Watson. For over 50 years, they spent time raising their daughter, traveling, gardening, attending performances, wintering in Myrtle Beach and enjoying Pocologan. Their relationship was one of a kind and Maureen was thankful for Gary’s tireless devotion to her. Maureen loved life, had an extremely witty sense of humour and a deep personal faith. Maureen "loved big"; cherishing her family and welcoming new friendships to her extended family. She loved entertaining, cooking and celebrating life. Her undeniable love for her grandchildren was evident as they were the loves of her life and she valued every minute of her time with them. Maureen’s love of dogs was renewed with her special bond with Izzy. Maureen will be missed by her husband, Gary; her daughter, Monica and her son in-law, Matthew Bedard; and her grandchildren, Ethan and Hannah. Maureen is also survived by her sister, Christine (Murray) Whitaker of Grand Bay-Westfield; brother, Michael (Valerie) Mooney of Saint John; brother, Barry (Linda) Mooney of Bridgetown, NS; sister, Cathy Gormley of Sudbury, ON; brother in-law, Gerry (Jackie) Landers of Saint John; and sister-in-law, Kirsti Watson of Sault Ste.
