Obituary of Paul Eldon Brewer
Brewer, Paul Eldon – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Paul Eldon Brewer of Maces Bay announce his peaceful passing which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Born in Cross Creek, NB on September 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Gordon and Minnie (Cookson) Brewer. Paul attended the New Brunswick Bible Institute where he met his wife Helen Louise Hoyt, RN of Bloomfield, NB who predeceased him in November, 1993. Paul was ordained in 1954 and pastored many Baptist churches in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick including Maces Bay, Little Lepreau and Chance Harbour. In his retirement years Paul loved gardening, his Kubota tractor, cutting wood from his woodlot and was always lending a willing hand to plow out the family and neighbours in the winter storms to make sure they could get to and from work. Paul’s family brought him so much joy and happiness. He will be missed by his daughters, Lois Lomax of Little Lepreau and Faith Nagle (Mark) of Rothesay; sons, Philip Brewer (Kay) of Rothesay and Mark Brewer (Mavis) of Little Lepreau; sister, Muriel Jean Sparkes of Fredericton; his beloved 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren whom he loved in a very special way. He was their special Papa, Blue Papa and Pa. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and spouse, Paul was predeceased by his sons, Thomas in infancy and Paul David; brothers, Charles Thomas of Ottawa and Bliss Emerson of Cross Creek. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris O’Brien, Dr. Williams, Dr. Wildish, Dr. Hemmings, and Dr. Alana Cook for the compassionate care they showed their father. A special thank you to the nursing staff and all of the extraordinary people and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice who gave great care and comfort to our dad and treated us like family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John with visiting on Sunday, November 19 from 2-8 PM. Funeral service to be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, November 20 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations in memory of Paul to Bobby’s Hospice, Windcrest Bible Camp, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
