Obituary of Robert Bernard Hawkins
It is with heavy hearts and respect for a life well-lived the family of Robert Bernard Hawkins, loving husband of Diana Hamilton, announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, November 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John, NB on July 21, 1952 he was a son of the late David A. Hawkins and Joan (Fudge). Robert was a strong, free spirited man who put all others before himself. His heart was full of endless giving, he lived life to the fullest and was a dedicated and faithful friend. Robert had a passion for travelling, and loved riding his Harley which he took great pride in. Robert had a rough exterior but was a kind and gentle man and always had a story for anyone who cared to listen. He was surrounded by friends and love but also appreciated and enjoyed being alone. Robert always believed everything could always be worse than it was and looked at the brighter side of life. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his wife Diana, Robert is survived by his children: Lynn Hawkins (Kevin), Stephen Hamilton (Crystal), Melissa and Corey ("the boy") and his family; brothers: Donald, Joseph, David and Stephen (Heather) Hawkins; grandchildren: Melony, Aleasha, Austin and Kingsley; great grandson Rian; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his grandson and namesake, little Bobby Hawkins. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Monday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM with the interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Robert may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
