Obituary of Patrick Porter

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Patrick James Porter, 56, announcing his unexpected passing at his residence in Saint John, NB on Sunday June 29, 2025.

Born on December 15, 1968, to the late Dorothy Kaye Burnett and Howard Porter. Even though the family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death, they take comfort in knowing he is now with God.

Pat was born and raised in Saint John, NB and was a very proud West-sider. He was a graduate of Simonds High School and received his industrial Mechanic Diploma from NBCC-SJ while working a few part time jobs. Pat had many careers throughout this lifetime; from the Militia at the Barrack Green Armoury to driving cab with ABC Taxi to working at the Saint John Bowlarama, formerly known as Lane 21 and as an Industrial Mechanic at Irving Blending and Packaging before moving on to being a security guard at Horizon Recovery Center but Pat enjoyed the outdoors the most; from spending time at his parents trailer at Pine Cone Campground where he taught his daughters to swim and ride their bikes to the boys fishing trips at Palfrey Lake Lodge where he would proudly boost he caught the fish but never had a picture too prove it as it was the one that “got away”. He enjoyed going to the Coffee Mill to spend time “hanging out” with the boys (Aaron, Trevor, Lee, Daryl, and Jeff) They even bought a Super 7 lotto ticket and won the second prize. He enjoyed spending time with his Father and his family in Grand Bend, Ontario. He was an avid bowler, playing in a league at Lane 21, he also played in a baseball league and even a little poker and video games.
Pat is survived by his loving daughters to whom he treasured with all his being; Britany Ann Porter (24) and Julie Emma Porter (22) both of Saint John along with their Mother Charlotte (nee Merritt); Brothers Gary Porter (Heather) of Saint John, NB and Michael Porter (Karen) of Parkhill, ON. Half sister Patricia Jones and Half brother Carl Jones; Step Sisters Catherine Cole, Diane Hayes, Marilyn Merrill, Cindy Cobham, and all their families. Along with many cousins, nieces and nephews here at home and across the country.

Pat was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy Burnett and Howard Porter; Stepfather Donald Burnett; Brother Kevin Porter; Baby sister Michelle Porter; Cherished Grandmother Margaret (Marr) Kaye and Precious Fur Baby “Nemo” the cat.

Pat will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-643-7424). In keeping with Pat’s wishes, there will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Pat's life will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, 714 Wilson St, Saint John, NB E2M 3V2. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the Donor’s Choice
