Obituary of Lois Gertrude Donald
After a brief illness, Lois Gertrude (Stevens) Donald, loving wife of the late Kenneth S. Donald, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 10, 1931 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Delila (Morrow) Stevens.
Lois was employed by Willett Foods and Stanbury’s Investments before starting her family. Her Family gave her the greatest joy. Once the girls no longer required her full attention she returned to work for a short time with Trecartin Wholesale and then as an attendant on the special needs school bus for District 20.
Lois will be dearly missed by her children: Lori (Jeffrey) McGovern and Lisa (Stephen) Wilson, grandson, Kenneth McGovern, along with nieces, nephews and members of her extended family.
Besides her parents and husband Kenneth, Lois was predeceased by her brothers: W. Roland (Shirley) Stevens and Wendell C. (Doreen) Stevens and nephew, Brian Stevens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Shannex – Concorde Hall for their excellent care and compassion over the past three years. Thanks are also extended to the staff of the SJRH – ER Dept., 5CN and the Palliative Care Unit.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, March 11 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 12 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, remembrances to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SJRH – Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.
