Obituary of Shirley Anne Patterson

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley A. Patterson announces her passing, which occurred on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bear River, NS on September 13, 1935, she was the only child of the late Gertrude O. Hill. Shirley worked at K-Mart in West Saint John for over 30 years until her retirement. She had a beautiful voice, and enjoyed singing with the Saint John Choristers. She was a member of the Happy Gang Club and volunteered for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Black Community, PRUDE Inc., and various other committees in the community. Shirley will be missed by her children: Denise, Kevin and Kim Patterson; grandchildren, Javan and Tony (Courtney); many great grandchildren; her dear friend and father of her children, Joe Patterson; as well as many extended family members and friends. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 12:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
