Obituary of Barbara Anne Finlay
While we celebrate a life well lived, we grieve for the passing of Barbara Anne Finlay, loving wife of the late Peter Finlay, which occurred on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Shannex-Tucker Hall. Born on May 10, 1939 in Saint John, she was a daughter to the late Harold and Evelyn (George) Tolan.
Barbara was teacher before making the easy decision of becoming a homemaker, as her life revolved around her family and she took great joy caring for them. She also took great joy in her trips to the summer camp in Chapel Grove where many wonderful memories were made. Barbara loved spending time with her sisters and friends, with whom she enjoyed many shopping trips to the US. She was a long time member of a bridge club, and adored time spent with her grandchildren.
Barbara will be dearly missed by her children: Sean (Cathy) Finlay and Julie (Matthew) Reid, her grandchildren: Olivia and Bridget Finlay, Lily and Maggie Reid, her sisters Shirley Butler and Ebby Frauley along with many nieces, nephews and members of her extended family.
Besides her parents and husband Peter, Barbara was predeceased by her son Christopher Finlay, and sisters: Elizabeth Tolan and Rita Olive.
The family would like to extend a "Thank You" to all the staff at Shannex-Tucker Hall for their care and compassion. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Resting at Brenan&squo;s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 30 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM. Liturgy of the Word will take place on Saturday, March 31 at 9 am from St. Peter’s Parish with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of donor’s choice.
