Obituary of Lloyd William Furze
The death of Lloyd William Furze, husband of Mary Ellen (McGowan) Furze, occurred on December 31, 2002, at his residence. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Lyman and Pearl (Mowery) Furze. He served overseas during WW II with the Carleton York North Shore Regiment. He retired as Senior Constable with the Saint John Police Department after 34 years of service. During his career he fondly remembered chauffeuring Lt. Governor Roland Mitchener during a state visit. He was a member of the Saint John Police Protective Association and was a member of the Carleton York Club. Besides his wife he is survived by his brothers-in-law; Donald and his wife Mary McGowan, Murray and his wife Claire McGowan, Dr. George and his wife Peggy McGowan, his sisters-in-law Theresa and her husband Duncan Keenan, Barbara and her husband Bill Morrow, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James and his sisters Irma Petty and Katherine Peppler. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2003, at 10:00 AM, from St. Ann's Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
