Dear Hank and Maria Susanne, Rose, Louis and I are sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. We send our condolences to you and your families. Although our contacts have been minimal over the years, we remember how exciting it was to have you move to Piercemont. Your mother, ''Mrs. Bogers', was a lovely lady; she had a quiet, welcoming disposition with a beautiful smile. A pot of cold tea always sat on the back of the wood stove ready whenever 'Mr. Bogers' wanted a cup. Maria frequently had lovely braids as she and Hank waited for the bus with us. Mrs. Bogers also kept your home immaculately clean - quite different from the Pierce household! I also remember the time your grandmother visited; she spent a lot of time pushing Louis in his carriage as she sang songs in her Dutch language. Years later, Mum was very appreciative when your mother attended Dad's funeral. Dad developed a strong and close friendship with Mr. Bogers. He greatly enjoyed farming with him and he marvelled at his high skills and gentleness with the animals. It was a sad day when you moved away. Take care of yourselves and all the best from all of us.
