Obituary of David Merritt Ferris
The death of David Merritt Ferris of Black River, NB, husband of Rosalie A. (Saunderson) Ferris, occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2002 at his residence. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Donald M. and Mary (Lewell) Ferris. Mr. Ferris was a Firefighter with the City of Saint John for over 30 years, before his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Black River and served as a past Warden. David was a founding and life member of Seaview Community Club in Black River and a member of the City of Saint John Retiree's Association. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Peter (Beverly) of Gardners Creek and Richard of Ontario, two daughters, Bette Anne Ferris of Gardners Creek and Linda Ferris of Black River, one brother, John A. (Carol) of Saint John, three grandchildren, Marianne Langille (Darren), Charlotte Ferris and Clair Ferris, one great grand-daughter Grace Langille, one great-grandson, William Ferris, two aunts, Hazel Griffin and Marjorie Ruppel, a sister-in-law, Helen Forler of Ontario, four nieces, three nephews, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. By Dave's request, he will be cremated and there will be no lying in state. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), where the family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday from 10 AM-12 Noon. The funeral service will be held at St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Black River on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Robyn Cuming officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Thomas' Church Cemetery. www.brenansfh.com
