Obituary of Gwendolyn Ann Moody
It is with great sadness that the family of Gwendolyn "Gwen" Ann (Cosman) Moody, wife of the late John "Jack" L. Moody, announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kingston, NB on December 28, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Brentha (McLean) Cosman.
Gwen started her love for nursing at the age of 16 when she went to the Saint John General Hospital for nursing. That’s where she met her long-time friend, Eleanor Cosman. She worked in the Health Care Industry for the greater part of her life. She also worked for the K-Mart pharmacy and spent 20 years as a Pharmacist Assistant at Shoppers Drug Mart. Gwen went back to school at the age 75 to obtain her PSW certification. Her personal endeavors included Women’s Aglow where she enjoyed the spiritual fellowship of the ladies involved. Gwen loved to cook and became known as the "Pie Lady" with her recipes for meat pies, selling up to 300 a week. She enjoyed working with her partner in crime, Vivian Landry.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Northrup; two sons, Kenny Moody and Larry Moody (Julia); grandchildren: Brentha Prosser (Jeff), Jessica and Jackie Moody; sister, Gloria Holland; brothers: Edward Cosman, Kemys Cosman (Ivy), Wayne Cosman and Ansley Cosman (Carol); sisters-in-law: Norma (Moody) Crawford, Marge Cosman, Fran Cosman and Eleanor Cosman along with several nieces, nephews and cousins and other members of her extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Gwen was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Kellier and brothers: Francis, Roland, DeVern, Carl, Ralph, Cecil, Darrell, Clinton, Theodore and Andrew; brothers-in-law: Charles F. Moody and Barry Crawford.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, August 6 and Tuesday, August 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 12:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to take place in Kingston Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances and condolences can be placed to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Saint John Regional Hospital – Palliative Care Unit.
