Obituary of Tim William Isaac
The family of Tim Isaac of Saint John announces, with great sadness, his passing on August 8, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving partner, Troy McEachern and his life-long best friend, Liz (Landers) Isaac; sons, Sean of Canmore, AB (grandsons, Noah and Mica) and Jay of Toronto, ON; and daughter, Dr. Marney (Mark) of Toronto, ON (granddaughters, Montura and Carmel).
Tim is also survived by his brother, Tom (Judy); and sisters, Dede Watt and Tina Tobias (Mike); and sister-in-law, Marlyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary (Tibbett); and brothers, Ken and Francis.
Tim was born in Saint John on May 30, 1942. He began his career as a teacher but soon founded Tim Isaac Antiques, which is in its 49th year in business. The auction company started soon after.
He is a Past President of the Maritime Antique Dealer’s Association and a Charter Member of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers. Tim also worked with the Canadian Antiques Roadshow as an expert appraiser and consultant.
Tim loved his city and contributed in many areas to support its growth, especially the downtown core. He was Past President of the Trinity Royal Business Association, Director of the Saint John Bi-Capital Project (Imperial Theatre), Member of Saint John Heritage Trust, past member of the Preservation Review board and the Saint John Planning Advisory Committee and a founding board member of The New City Theatre Company.
Tim enjoyed and was active in politics. He was co-campaign chair for Prime Minister Pierre Eliot Trudeau, and co-chair for Premier Frank McKenna. He acted as campaign manager for several politicians in all levels of government including Michael Landers and the late Shirley Dysart.
Over his career he contributed his expertise to raise several million dollars for many local charities: Imperial Theatre, Hospice Saint John, Lakewood Headstart, AIDS Saint John, Rocmaura Nursing Home, Canadian Cancer Society, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and West Side Co-Op, to name a few.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Dolan and the staff of the Oncology Unit, Saint John Regional Hospital, and Extra Mural Nurses.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Tim’s wishes, there will not be any formal funeral service, however there will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 12 noon to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, the Joan Smith Memorial Garden (garden outside the Oncology Department at the Saint John Regional Hospital), or a charity of choice. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
"A special thank you to all our friends and business clients who supported us for 49 years. It has been a good journey." -Tim
