Obituary of Phyllis Joan McRae
With broken hearts, the family of Phyllis Joan (Queen) McRae, of Grand Bay-Westfield, wife of the late Frederick (Fred) G. McRae, announce her passing on August 12, 2018. Born March 26, 1937 at Oak Point, NB, she was one of three daughters of the late Len and Ruth Queen (originally from Armstrong’s Corner).
Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred, of 61 years only seven months ago on January 15, 2018. They were always together and now are back together again. Phyllis always put others before herself. She enjoyed knitting, having knit many sweaters for family and friends as well as children’s sweaters for the City Market and for the cruise ship seasons. Phyllis was an Avon representative for many years in the Grand Bay Area. She enjoyed camping with family and friends, reading and doing puzzles, and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Phyllis is survived by two sons: Fred (Debbie) MacRae of Rothesay, NB and Kevin (Kate) MacRae of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; and a daughter Sue (Roly) Palmer of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; as well as two grandsons: Tom (Katie Slater) MacRae and Greg (Kristina) MacRae and their children (Zack, Josh, Isabella, Danika, Jebediah and Alaska); two step-granddaughters: Carol (Ed) DeSaulniers and their children (Kimberley, Eddie, Cassie, Jamie and Riley) and Sharon McKay.
Phyllis is also survived by sisters: Marion (the late Ralph) Mersereau, and Donna (the late Charlie) Ross, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Bertha (the late Alden) Winott, Phyllis (the late Gordon) Tuplin, Marjorie McRae and Marie (the late Charlie) McRae, and brother-in-law Ron (Pauline) McRae. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law: Earl McRae (Italy WWII), John (Elsie) McRae, Walter (Sandra) McRae and sisters-in-law: Marion (Erland) Winters and Kathleen (Fred) Heaton.
Phyllis attended Grand Bay Baptist Church for several years. She also enjoyed watching Souls Harbour church service and the Bill Gaither Gospel Hour.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
