Obituary of Manuel Everett Leek
It is with appreciation for a full life well-lived that the family of Manuel "Danny" Leek, loving husband of Edna (Brown) Leek, announces his peaceful passing, which occurred on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 1, 1929, he was a son of the late Earl and Mary (Howe) Leek.
He lent proud service to the Royal Canadian Air Force as well as representing his Academy as a respected Boxer in the 50's, sharing the ring on 2 separate occasions with then Maritime Champion 'Yvonne Durelle'.
Upon retiring from working a number of years for 'the City of Saint John', he was quite content to spend most days in harmony with his wife of 65 years and occasionally with friends partaking in a game of crib, darts or sometimes shuffleboard
In addition to his wife Edna, Manuel will be missed by his 6 children: Robert, Wanda Ball (Ed), Cindy, William "Bil" (Kim), Daniel and Brenda (Praeg) Leek; 14 grand-children; 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings Gertrude and Earl Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and 12 siblings.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Veteran Tribute Service will be held during visitation at 7 pm. A Celebration of Manuel’s Life will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private family interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
