Obituary of Willard Moore Armstrong

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of a very SPECIAL man, our father Willard Armstrong, age 88 husband of the late Marion (Thompson) Armstrong which occurred on September 7, 2018 at Shannex Embassy Hall. Born in Saint John on June 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert and Vera Rose (Greer) Armstrong. Willard was a furniture man at heart working at MRA’s and Sears until his retirement in 1987. Willard loved to work with wood and enjoyed his workshop where he created many special pieces for several people. In recent years his specialties were making crib boards and washer toss games. He enjoyed life to the fullest, living his life with his glass half full - always. He bowled all his life in many leagues, he belonged to a hunting and fishing club where we enjoyed many vacations at Sherwood Lake. Willard was a sports enthusiast through different stages of his life; playing, coaching and cheering on his favourite teams. Later in life he began drawing and painting leaving behind paintings on all our walls. He also enjoyed his cottage and his winters in Florida with Mum, where he loved to golf, play cards and entertain family and friends. He is survived by his three children, Paul (Janet) of Nova Scotia, Mark (Karen) and Susan (Peter) Best of Rothesay; and his seven grandchildren, Craig (Toni) and Kristin (Brett), Zachary (Nicole) and Jennifer, Natalie, Colin and Curtis; three great grandchildren, Cecelia, Carter and Lily and the last remaining sibling his brother Fred of Alberta. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his five brothers: Darrell, Robert, Donald, Graeme, Harold and his beloved sister Audrey. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row with visitation on Tuesday, September 11, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A celebration of Willard’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 12 at 11:00 AM from Church of Christ the King (formerly Saint James Lakewood) 2000 Loch Lomond Road. Interment will follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Willard can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of donor’s choice.
