Obituary of Sheila Mae French
French, Sheila Mae - Peacefully determined, strong, and surrounded by her loving family, Sheila Mae French (née Light) passed away at her home on November 21, 2018.
Born in Halifax on January 14, 1942, Sheila was predeceased by her loving mother Ann Armour (née Seaman). She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Donald; her three children: Joanna Siauw (Michael) of Chatham, NJ, DJ French (Leslie) of Toronto, ON and Alison French (Mario Scichilone) of Saint John, NB; and her four cherished grandchildren: Christian, Ethan, Sienna, and Mila.
Sheila made everything in her life more beautiful. Her home of 42 years was a warm and welcoming place for dinners, parties, family gatherings and holidays. Her elegant influence could always be seen in her garden, her church, and her community. Sheila loved sharing her creative gift of decor and flower arranging with others and she was often invited by many to decorate for weddings, Christmas, and special events.
Sheila was a central part of an incredible group of friends, and most of her relationships spanned many decades. She was dedicated to her bridge group, of which she was a member for 48 years; her church St Pius X; the Union Club and Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club; the Alumni at her beloved Saint John High, of which she served as Alumni Association Executive for over 30 years; and her numerous family and extended family members with whom she treasured spending time.
The family would like to thank with deepest gratitude Carol Gormley and the Extra Mural team of nurses who were exemplary in their care; Erin Riley and the Riley Home Care nursing staff who provided tender care in her final days; Dr. Michael Simon, and Dr. James Michael. The family would also like to acknowledge the tireless support of Sheila and Donald’s friends and family, especially Sheila's dearest friend Linda Tobias. We are so grateful for her care and compassion. Their friendship is truly an irreplaceable gift.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB 506-634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 2-8 pm.
