Obituary of Gladys Winnifred Ough
It is with sad hearts that the family of Gladys Winnifred (Dwyer) Ough, wife of the late Bernie Ough Sr, announces her passing, which occurred on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born January 7, 1920 she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Follett) Dwyer.
Gladys was a lifelong member of All Saints Anglican Church where she had been Envelope Secretary and volunteered her time.
She had worked in the retail industry at different stores, including MRA’S, Emmerson Wheaton, Ogden’s, and D’Alliards.
She enjoyed her card group that met every week, crafts, and being with her family. She was also a member of the Senior’s Group, Pythian Sisters, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Empty Stocking Fund.
She is survived by her children: Donna Spragg (Ronald), Wayne Ough (Jane), Heather Hilburn (John), Bernie Ough (Linda), Dwight Ough (Leona), Stephen Ough (Brenda) and Meredith Henderson; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her two sisters, Lillian Liddy and Emily Hetherington and her brother, William Dwyer.
Thank you to the staff at Shannex, Quispamsis, her angel caregivers, Shelly O’Donnell and Evelyn, the staff of 3C South at the Saint John Regional Hospital, and Dr. Michael Simon.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
