We were saddened to learn of Joan's passing and extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to you for your loss. Bernie would see Joan weekly uptown, on her errands, and always stop and have a chat with her. She was a lovely lady. One of our fondest memories was when we would go Christmas carolling in her neighbourhood. She loved that so much and would always have a treat for us. Our caring thoughts and prayers are with you all as you reflect on her life and many contributions. Most sincerely,

Words fail to express how sad we feel today; but joy in knowing the wonderful gift of caring and giving she had. In our conversations she would always talk about you two and the grandchildren and was so proud. You, Susan, are so much like her and your grandmother that she will continue to live on through you. The bonds that have held her since her stroke have been freed and she is in a better place now.

Sue and family: Not only have you lost a loving member of your family but all of us in the South/Central peninsula have lost a friend. You never went uptown without meeting Joanie and her smile could light up the most gloomy days. I knew you first, Sue, but when I met her I knew where you got your sense of humour and madcap ways. I think you and I are going to have to be very circumspect now that Marg and Joanie are together! I am sending you much love and prayer that you will find comfort in the wonderful memories and love she has left.

We were so sad to hear of your mom's passing. The cookie lady as she was known to the children of Saint James Sunday school. Those kids are grown now but remember those cookies and how she had a shape for all occasions. She was a lovable person, and I think she single-handedly kept the tuck shop in business at Camp Medley with all the bottle money she collected on here evening rounds, and gave to campers each summer. She always had a hug, pot of tea and plenty of conversation. Sometimes late into the night when I visited. I always felt comfortable in her presence. Our lost here on earth will be heaven's gain. She will be with her dear Alden once more. And heaven will receive a treasure.(Shopping bag included).
