Obituary of Patrick Gerard Buckley
It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick Buckley of Saint John, beloved husband of nearly 60 years to Helen (Fetter) Buckley announce his passing, which occurred on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his home. Born on March 15, 1936 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Bill and Frances (O’ Brien) Buckley. Prior to his retirement, Pat was employed as an Air Defence Technician in the RCAF. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his younger years he loved to play hockey. Pat will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his loving wife, Helen, Pat is also survived by their children, Bill Buckley (Sue) of Saint John and Cathy O’Reilly (Dan) of Quispamsis; sisters, Ann Marie Murray, Mary Chamberlain and Jean Zmboukis; precious grandchildren, Catherine Buckley (Trevor Greer), Will Buckley (Sandy Leland), Alex Buckley and Cullen O’Reilly; as well as several, cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Lillian Hickey, Theresa McCaffrey and Dot Hickey and brother, Bill Buckley. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 3:00-6:45 PM and will be immediately followed by the funeral service in Brenan’s Chapel at 7:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Chapel Grove at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
