Obituary of Marie Jeannette Benoit
It is with heavy hearts the family of Jeannette Benoit announce her passing on February 8, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 69. Born in Beaverbrook, Miramichi, NB, she was a daughter of the late Albenie and Marie-Anne Benoit.
Jeannette was a custodian at MacDonald Consolidated School for 20 years, until she retired.
Jeannette is survived by her soul mate Kenneth Strayhorn; her mother: Marie-Anne Benoit; sisters: Lena (Robert Ryan), Gertrude (Valentin Cernjak), Linda (John Hann), Dianne Mahar, Alice Mackay and Bernice Benoit; brothers: Armand (Cathy), Paul (Alice), Alcide, Daniel, and Jacques; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father: Albenie Benoit; infant sister: Jeannette; brothers-in-law: Clarence Mackay, Lorne Mahar; and sister-in-law: Theresa Benoit.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). In keeping with Jeannette’s wishes, there will be no visitation. She will be cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, Saint John, on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Her ashes will be taken home to Beaverbrook, Miramichi in the spring for burial in the Assumption Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
