Obituary of Kenneth William Hannah
It is with heavy hearts the family of Kenneth "Ken" William Hannah, loving husband of Joyce (Keating), announce his passing, which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Born in Woodstock on September 6, 1947, he was a son of Nelda (Dow) Hannah, of Saint John and the late C. Robert "Bob" Hannah. Known for his gentle demeanour, Ken enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. Growing up, he spent summers on his Dow grandparents’ farm in Jacksontown, NB which began his great love of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Moss Glen Fishing Club. Ken served with the US Navy in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. He graduated from San Jose State University in California with a BS and MS in Civil Engineering. He enjoyed a successful 35 year career working for several municipalities around New Brunswick as a Consulting Civil Engineer with Godfrey Associates Ltd. and Dillon Consulting Limited. In addition to his loving wife and mother, Ken is survived by his children Kendra Hannah-Meistrell (Walter Meistrell) of Murrieta, California and Jason Hannah (Melissa) of Nasonworth, NB; siblings Carl Hannah (Shirley) of Virginia and Paula Mathieson, of Saint John; grandchildren Allison and Nathan Hannah and Logan Meistrell; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Bob, niece Robin and nephew Larry. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and will be immediately followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Ken may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
