Obituary of Therese M. O'Keefe
It is with profound sadness the family announces the death of Therese M. O’Keefe on Monday, March 20th, 2017, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 15, 1920, she was the daughter of Joseph and Jeannie (McCaig) Melanson and the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" O’Keefe. Therese was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School and valedictorian of Mount Carmel Academy. She began her career at Wilson Boxes and was an Executive Secretary for The Multiplex Corporation, The Rocca Group and retired from The National Harbours Board. Her devotion to her Catholic faith was unmatched and she was an active member of the St. Pius X Parish and CWL. She was also a member of the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary. Her greatest love and joy were her family for which she demonstrated endless pride. She is survived by her son John (Robyn Lyndsay) of Harvey; daughters Cathy (Claude Savoie) of Quispamsis and Diane (Douglas Creamer) of Saint John. She was a loving Nana to Brian and Cara Savoie and Mary and Jack Creamer. Therese was the devoted sister of Josephine and Bernadette Melanson both of Saint John; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Gerald Melanson and her sister, Alice Cobham. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John with visiting on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset St., Saint John on Thursday, March 23 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
