Obituary of Gerard George Cavan
Surrounded by his family, the passing of Gerard Cavan of Saint John, beloved husband of Charlene (Kincade) Cavan, occurred on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at his home. Born on April 5, 1963 in Scotland, he was the son of the late Hugh and Margaret (MacTaggart) Cavan. Prior to his illness, Gerard was employed as a caregiver with the Salvation Army. He truly enjoyed life and treasured the times spent with those he loved. Gerard was always up for a good game of cards and also enjoyed curling, hockey, darts, lawn bowling, hunting and fishing. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his wife, Charlene, Gerard is also survived by their sons, Gerard Cavan (Rachel) of AB and Gordon Kincade of Saint John; daughters, Jessica Cavan of Saint John, Sammiejoe Collins (John) of Chipman, Tiffany Trecartin (Ashley) of Rothesay, Sarah Cavan (Matt) of Hampton and Sabrina Bannan of Saint John; sisters, Ann Cliche (Bill) and Joan Craft (the late Robert) all of Saint John, Maureen Reid (Skeeter) of AB, Monica Cavan and Teresa Cavan both of Saint John; precious grandchildren, Kayden, Chayce, Xavier, Aurora, Declan and Scottie; father-in-law, Charles Kincade of Hampton and mother-in-law, Lorrie Kincade of Saint John; chosen brother, Steven Amos (Kelly) of Saint John; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Hugh and Stephan; sister, Rita and step-mother, Sheila Kincade. Although there will be no visitation, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or the NB Lung Association.
