Obituary of Sister Marion Louise Williams
Sister Marion Williams, (Sister Mary Christopher), died peacefully at Ruth Ross Residence on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Born January 24, 1937, in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Edna (Dever) Williams. She graduated from St. Vincent’s High School and entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception. She taught in schools in Saint John (Holy Trinity, St. Patrick’s), Moncton, Prince Albert, SK, Venosta, QC, and Vancouver, BC. She was a missionary in Peru for many years. Returning to Saint John, she became Director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society until 2009. Known for her compassion for the less fortunate and a keen sense of social justice, her bright smile and quick laugh will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
Predeceased by her parents Ervin and Edna, brothers Ervin and David and sister Barbara(Cullinan). Survived by her sisters Janice (Murnaghan), Lucille (DeWolfe) and Sister Elizabeth Williams, SCIC.
Visitation on Friday, February 22, 6-8pm at Ruth Ross Residence (105 Burpee Ave) with Vigil in Carmel Chapel at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 23, 10 am at Ruth Ross Residence. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Remembrances can be made to the charity of your choice.
