Obituary of Kenneth Avery Hewey
The death of Kenneth A. "Flip" Hewey of Brittain Rd., Nerepis, life partner and best friend of Pamela Higgins, occurred at Kennebec Manor in Saint John on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born in Saint John on October 17, 1926, he was a son of the late Avery and Selena (Darres) Hewey. He was Anglican by Faith. As a young man he played hockey locally and worked as a Longshoreman. He is survived by three brothers: Malcom, Raymond (Sherry) and Murray, one sister, Mrs. Shirley Boyce and one sister-in-law, Barbara Hewey; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers: Charles, Allan and Douglas; sisters: Kay, Margie, Dolly and Audrey. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following cremation, a private family graveside service will take place in Fernhill Cemetery, at a later date. Remembrances to the Alzheimers Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
