Obituary of Waldo Ira Oldfield
The death of Waldo Ira Oldfield, husband of Jean (Coleman) Oldfield, of the Westfield Road, occurred on August 12, 2003, at his residence. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Waldo Emerson Oldfield and Senith (Perry) Oldfield. He was a veteran of WW II having served in England and France. He was employed with Willet Fruit Company for 28 years and retired from the Saint John Dry Dock after 15 years of service. He was an adherent of Douglas Avenue Christian Church. He was an avid sports fan his entire life. He played baseball in his younger years. Coached in the North End Little League and refereed hockey for many years at the minor and senior levels. Besides being survived by his loving wife, Jean, of 56 years, he is survived by his twin sons Donald C. at home, and Ronald (Ron) L. of Quispamsis, his daughters Audrey-Jean and her husband Gordon Dunn of North Bay, ON, Linda Gautreau of Grand Bay-Westfield, his brothers Burton and his wife Helen of Kingston Peninsula, Victor and his wife Doreen of Saint John, Raymond of Saint John, his sisters Nina Reinhart, Ella Walker, Audrey Morton, Evelyn and her husband Robert Curran, Lorna and her husband Bruce Wilson, all of Saint John, his grandchildren David, Heather and Peter Dunn, of Ontario, Shelly and Shannon Gautreau, and Ronnie Oldfield, his great-granddaughter Jordan Gautreau and several nieces and nephews. His brother Norman Oldfield and his son-in-law Norman Gautreau predeceased him. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2003, at 1:00 PM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
