Obituary of Alister "Al" Grant
The death of Mr. Alister Grant, of Upper Golden Grove, NB, occurred on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Nairn, Scotland, he was the son of the late John William and Christina (Bannerman) Grant. Al was employed with the City of Saint John for 36 years, until his retirement in 1993. He loved to work in his yard on the tractor, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his companion and special friend, Anne Grant, five sons, Stanley (Judy) Grant, William "Billy" Grant, Donald Grant, Malcolm (Annette) Grant, and Mark Grant, five brothers, Jack (Helen) Grant, Edward (Mabel) Grant, Christopher (Gert) Grant, Ronnie Grant, and Ronnie Bannerman, two sisters Christine Hayward and Ethel Cunningham, four grandchildren, Anthony, Cara, Danny, and Adam, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Rita (nee Cosman) Grant, his only daughter, Tanya Marie Grant, his brother, Alfred Grant, and sisters, Glady McCormick and Joyce Gardner. The family would like to express their thanks to the Nurses and Staff of the 5th Floor, CCU, of the Saint John Regional Hospital, for their wonderful care and compassion. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2003 at 12:00 Noon from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Canadian Cancer Society. www.brenansfh.com
