Obituary of Hilda Elizabeth McQuade
The death of Hilda Elizabeth (Hamm) McQuade, wife of the late Guy W. McQuade, occurred at her residence, the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home, Saint John, formerly of 72 Beaverbrook Avenue, Saint John, on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the age of 96. Born in Hammtown, NB, (now Codys) on March 20, 1907, she was the daughter of the late J. Burfield and Hessie (Wilson) Hamm. Hilda attended Provincial Normal School, and had taught in several schools in New Brunswick. She lived most of her married life in Saint John, after having lived at Cambridge, NB for a time. She is survived by her grandson, Kelley William McQuade of Bridgeport, CT, USA and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas and Jessica. She was predeceased by her husband Guy in 2000, her only son, Dr. G. William (Bill) McQuade in 1990 and her brother, John Otty Hamm. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 6, 2003 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at the Cambridge Baptist Cemetery, Cambridge, NB. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
