Obituary of Bessie Lillian MacGowan

The death of Bessie Lillian MacGowan, wife of the late Murray MacGowan, occurred on October 11, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at West Apple River, NS, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Etta Jane (Copp) Rushton. She was employed as Supervisor of Cafeteria for the District 20 School Board. She was director of the Best Years Fellowship, past-president of JOY Club, and a member of Fundy Fellowship. She is survived by her daughters Verna Etter Estabrooks of Sackville, NB, Audrey and her husband George Lee of Verdun, PQ, her sons Darrell MacGowan and his wife Betty of Saint John, Dean MacGowan and his wife Helen of Saint John, her six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers Charles, James, Everett and Stanley and her sisters Bertha Lunn, Florence Campbell, Agnes Nickerson and Ada Armstrong predeceased her. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at 2:15 PM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Saint John School Milk Fund or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
