Obituary of Dorothy Vera Hammond
The death of Mrs. Dorothy Hammond of 33 Smythe Street, Saint John, wife of the late Elmer A. Hammond, occurred on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Hamilton, ON, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Mahy (Minnie) Amelia Emma Sarre. Mrs. Hammond was a member of the Sea Gulls of Market Square Senior Citizens Club and was a former member of the Marco Polo Quilting Guild. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by three sons, Howard (Gail), John (Heather) and Robert (Tina), three daughters, Marilyn Beyea, Lorraine Vanier (Butch) and Margaret “Peggy” Beyea (Bev), all of Saint John, many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several cousins in Ontario. She was predeceased by her first husband, George Hannah, one son, George D. “Sonny” Hannah and one daughter, Dorothy A. MacKenzie. By request, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at 11:00 AM. No flowers by request, remembrances to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
