Obituary of Winona Cullingham Sinclair

The death of Mrs. Winona Cullingham Sinclair of 124 Park Drive, Rothesay, NB, E2H 1A8, beloved wife of Norman C. Sinclair, occurred on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was 81 years of age. Born in King Township, Ontario, she spent her early youth in Bradford, Ontario. After graduating from high school she worked briefly with Atlas Steel in Welland and joined the Royal Canadian Navy from January 1944 until November 1945 as a signaller with HMC Dockyard, Halifax. She was mentioned along with Wren Earledene Adams, for steadfast duty during the Bedford magazine explosion July 20, 1945. After the war, she remained in Halifax and in 1948 married Norman C Sinclair. Together they lived in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Calgary Alberta and Saint John New Brunswick. She was an active curler, a member of the Riverside Country Club; a devoted member of the St. John and St Stephen Church and worked with the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was the daughter of the late John Frederick and Ella Cameron (MacKay) Cullingham. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James Sinclair (Deborah) of Moncton and Alan Sinclair (Charline) of Nanaimo, BC, one daughter, Jane Sinclair Williams (Glen) of Little Harbour, NS, two brothers, Donald Cullingham (Vivian) of Alabama and Gordon Cullingham (Janet) of Ottawa, ON, and grandchildren, Kathryn, Nora, Ian, Emily and Nicholas Sinclair. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen, Coburg Street, Saint John, on Friday, May 30, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Private family interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, New Glasgow, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Epilepsy Canada or the charity of the donors choice.
