Obituary of Marjorie Eva Guptill
The death of Mrs. Marjorie (Ingersoll) Guptill, wife of the late Mr. Winston Churchill Guptill, of Stillview Court, Saint John, NB formerly of Grand Manan, NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital while surrounded by her loving family on October 31, 2003. Born in Woodward's Cove, Grand Manan, NB, Marjorie was the daughter of the late George and Hattie (Williger) Ingersoll. She worked many jobs in her lifetime including raising five children, the Catholic School Board in Ottawa and as a professional cook at the Grand Manan Nursing Home. Everyone touched by Marjorie instantly loved her. Her many passions and talents in life included but were not limited to cooking, quilting, and knitting. She was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Grand Harbour, Grand Manan and the Anglican Church Women of St. Paul's. Her new church family at New Hope Foursquare Church made her feel equally at home since moving to Saint John. Besides her husband Winston, Marjorie was predeceased by a son Michael Guptill and daughter Susan Delaney, two sisters; Irma and Lois, five brothers; Maurice, Richard, Sherwood, Kerman and Weldon. Marjorie will be missed by her sons; George (Rose), St. George, NB, Lauris (Paula), Wolfville, NS, daughter, Sherrill (Gilbert) Perry, Saint John, NB, three sisters; Twila Leonard, Florida, Hazel and Viola Lahey, Grand Manan, grandchildren; Scott (Janet) Perry, Tanya (John) Cyr, Michelle (Kevin) Atkinson, Rochelle (Brian) Guptill-Ward, James (Corinne) Guptill, Tara (Romiel) Wilfred, Christa (Kenny) Holmes, daughter-in-law Cindy and son-in-law Jack, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visitation in Saint John on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon with a funeral to follow in Saint John at Brenan's Chapel at 1:00 p.m. A funeral on Grand Manan Island will follow on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church with visitation from 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the church that day. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.B. or a charity of the donor's choice.
