Obituary of Herbert G. Pitt

The death of Herbert 'Jimmy' G. Pitt, husband of Eileen (Carvell) Pitt, occurred on July 21, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of Beatrice 'Bea' Charlton and the late Herbert Pitt. He was a member of the ILA Local #273 and was formerly employed at Saint John Dry Dock and operated a taxi. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing darts on Sunday. He was Anglican by faith. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by his daughters Joyce Hunter (Blair Albert) of Moncton, Anna Lisa Hunter (Dale Porter) of London, ON, his sons-in-law Richard Harten of Moncton, Stephen Vandenberghe of Westfield, NB, His brother Paul Pitt (Norma) of Vancouver, his brothers-in-law Jimmy Carvell, Billy Carvell, Lenny Carvell, all of Saint John, his sister Karen McPhee (Leo) of Saint John, his sister-in-law Jean of Calgary, five grandchildren, his aunt, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and two great nieces. He was predeceased by his father and his step-father Frank Charlton. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), there will be a private memorial service. Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated the family although no flowers by request.
