Obituary of Peter Albert Robertson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Albert Robertson at Ridgewood Veterans Wing in Saint John, New Brunswick on April 14, 2019 at the age of 95.
Peter was above all a dedicated family man, as well as a person who embraced community life and who approached his life experiences with a sense of adventure. He was a proud member of the RCAF for 29 years, which included service during WWII with the Pathfinder Squadron as part of Bomber Command. After retirement from the armed forces he returned to Community College to receive a diploma in land assessment, and later earned an MTS from Tyndale University and Seminary. His life was defined by service which included volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society and at Markham Stouffville Hospital during his retirement years. When he spoke about his experiences the emphasis was on the relationships he built along the way. And, even during illness in recent years he remained kind and graceful, and the true gentleman he had always been.
Peter was predeceased by his wife Doris, his parents, all of his siblings and his in-laws. He is survived by his children, Lori (Tom), Paul (Denise) and Dawna (James); his grandchildren, Ben, Daniel, Andrew, Emily (David), Noelle, Kaitlyn (Ed) and Kathryn and his two beautiful great-grandsons, Braxton and Tucker.
A memorial service for Peter will be held at St. Martins Baptist Church on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow and his ashes will be scattered in his hometown, a place his heart never left, Pincher Creek, Alberta. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick (506-634-7424).
The family wishes to thank the staff at Ridgewood for their gentle compassionate care and to all his friends in St. Martins who welcomed him into the community.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Ridgewood Veterans Wing - Comfort Fund or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
