My condolences to his family and friends. I just saw this. I was a colleague of Larry's at UNBSJ in the early 1990's. I enjoyed his camaraderie, enthusiasm, élan, and our ping-pong matches in the middle of the day to just get away from the hassle and relax.

My deepest condolences go out to Larry's family.
Larry and I were on the same floor when I came to UNBSJ in 2002. Over the years he was always friendly to me, offering helpful advice, stories, and a smile! He deeply cared about our students and our campus, cheerfully giving 110%. May you rest in peace Larry.

I am very sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I was a student of his in the mid 90's and he is one of the reasons I now teach math at UNB in Fredericton. I remember his classes fondly, he had a way to make everyone feel welcome and engaged.

I was very saddened to hear of Larry's passing. I was a colleague of his for many years, and enjoyed our chats, his humour and the everpresent twinkle in his eyes. I especially enjoyed the stories he would tell me when he retired from teaching, and moved to a nearby office in the trailer. He always had time for everyone, and certainly knew how to entertain his audience. He will be sorely missed.

So sad to hear of Larry's passing. I was in another department at UNBSJ during the last several years of his teaching career but we shared the same floor of the building and I spoke to him often. I always enjoyed our chats and his sense of humour and generous spirit. We talked about music and guitars a lot. I know that he was a popular and excellent teacher. My sister took courses him back in the 1980s and has excelled in the computing sector. I believe that originally he was a West Sider, like me.

Heartfelt condolences to the Garey family. I worked at the Ward Chipman Library at UNBSJ. My memory of Dr. Garey goes back to the late '70's, early '80's. At that time UNBSJ held during the winter a Student/Staff & Faculty curling evening. For abut 2 months we would meet Sundays at Thistle St. Andrews for a fun night of curling. Cherish your memories.

So sorry to hear of Dr. Garey's death. I was in two of his classes and while I know what a great scholar, professor and mathematician he was, he was also a wonderful teacher. He could help his students make sense out of the most complex mathematical theories and processes. Rest in peace, Dr. Garey.
