Today we learned of the passing of our fellow past member Dave Gillett. It is worth of note the contributions the Gillett family have made to the history of Ball's lake Fishing Club.
The Balls Lake fishing club is indebted to the Gillett family. One of our longest standing caretakers was David's Father John Gillett. John Gillett served as Caretaker from 1951 to 1965.
Dave joined the Club in 1991. Served on Board of Directors in 1995 -97 . He served on the Management Comm. for 1998/99.
Dave had a knack for catchin fish, shootin moose and deer hunting. His stories will be easily recalled by all who knew him. Fortunately we have numerous records of his name on the largest fish caught annually on bait and fly trophies of some damn nice fish. He was seen on a number of occasions boardin the boat with Johnny Shannon where we know they shared a wee taste. The exploits of their fishen will not be matched for some time to come. It is with the fondest of memories we remember Dave, smilin and waiting to tell a story and on occasion a tale of moose, deer and fishen.
On behalf of President Randy Phillips and the Executive and Board of the Ball.s Lake Fishing Club we wish to express our sincere condolences, and thanks to all for sharing your Family member, in past John Gillett and Dave for so many years as a contributing member of our club.
During this difficult time we share with you the loss of a friend, fishen N huntin companion and memorable member of our club.
Our sincerest condolences
Gerry Munn
Secretary treasurer

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Uncle David. He was my godfather and I have many fond memories of him. One of my favourites was the time he taught me how to drive his quad. He was on the back and I think I gave him a bit of a scare when I crashed through the fence in front of the house and was heading toward the last window in the living room. He laughed once we were stopped. He always called me Crash after that. I always think of him when I'm out on my own quad (I'm a much better driver now lol). Dawn Gillet
