Mike,
I was saddened to read of Sandy’s death. Upon reflecting on her obituary, I see she was instrumental in advancing the profession of teaching in New Brunswick. As I was not familiar with Sandy’s background, her life accomplishments were extraordinary. She cared so much for so many it seems and had long relationships and a backstory for each individual.
She always took time to chat whenever We ran into each other. I saw firsthand the love, caring and concern she had for dear Georgianna and the feeling was mutual I was told.
Georgie often brought up the good times and she had shared with your all, especially her dear sister.
I enjoyed listening as she took me back to the time of your childhoods with great affection in her mind’s eye.
Please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences for your loss. You are left to carry the torch of proud heritage and family. Know that she will be with you in love and spirit, for as the body dies, the spirit carries on.

My most incredible Aunt Sandy passed away and I am completely heart broken.
I will continue to honour her life with the important example she set for me; to love fiercely, to always be kind, to support women to be strong and independent and to cherish my Irish heritage. This is her legacy.
So many people have be blessed to have her in their lives but only a few of us are lucky enough to call her “Aunt”.
Rest in Peace Aunt Sandy...
until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

My heart is so sad.
On December 6th my sweet Aunt, Sandy Campbell, passed away after over a year long battle with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. A diagnosis that would shake most people, she carried with grace, integrity, hope, and fearlessness. Her spirit was unbreakable. She remained optimistic, often cheerfully consoling others (namely, me) who struggled with the tough reality of her diagnoses. Such was her nature.
I have fond memories of visiting my relatives in Saint John as a child. I remember our tearful goodbyes, wishing we all lived closer, and wishing for more time. More than anything, now, I wish for more time. To live in New Brunswick, now without her here, feels surreal.
After my grandmother, Sandy’s sister, passed away in 2014 (far sooner than any of us were prepared to lose her), Sandy stepped into the role of a self-proclaimed “honorary-grandmother.” She cheered our small victories (and often announced them to all her Facebook friends), wiped our tears during difficult times, and above all - made sure we always felt her unwavering love.
Throughout the course of Sandy’s battle, each goodbye I said to her (which actually turned out to be about 8..) I feared was our last. With every tearful goodbye, again, I wished for more time.
This past Sunday, I had a wonderful visit with her. We laughed and joked and talked about all the changes in my life. When it came to goodbye, this time in my gut I knew it would be our last with her worsening condition. She blew me a kiss, we exchanged “I love you’s,” and I embodied her unwavering strength and did not cry. Our goodbye was not tearful, but still, I wished for more time.
You never truly know when it’s your last, so make each one count. Hug your family a second longer, tell your loved ones you love them. Over and over and over.
I love you, Aunt Sandy. I will miss you forever. I am so blessed to have had you in my life.

The students, staff and faculty of Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick extend our sincere condolences to Sandy's family. Sandy was very involved in our Volunteer Patient Program over many years and through her involvement, she was able to help teach future physicians, many of whom will practice in New Brunswick. Her commitment to teaching certainly had an impact on our program and she will be dearly missed.

Mike, Ann & Campbell Family,
Sandy & I go back 43 years. She was not only a colleague but a friend. We spent many breaks at FHJH gossiping, venting and laughing over our unbelievable classroom experiences. We went our separate ways but when we met up with one another over the years , we had that same comfort level that we had when we met years before. This is what a true friend is, and Sandy was a true friend. Her smile and genuine warmth will be missed. She loved life but accepted her final journey with grace & courage. RIP dear friend!
Deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers have been with you all during this difficult journey and will continue to be with you all in the days that follow. May your many good memories carry you through these difficult days and provide you with future comfort. Sandy lived her life to the fullest and would expect you all to do the same.

I last saw Sandy at the end of June in the foyer of the SJRH. Mike was bringing her in for a treatment and I had just had a procedure. We laughed at where we were at this time in our lives....
Sandy was one of the most welcoming people I have had the pleasure of knowing...simply delightful and accepting....
I can only imagine how difficult her passing is and will continue to be for her family and close friends.
To Mike and all the Campbells my sincere sympathy at this time .... may Sandy rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to each of you.

Dear Mike and all of Sandy's much loved nieces, nephews and cousins. I have known Sandy since our days teaching together at Forest Hills School 35 years ago. We had such fun! Sandy and Zita sure helped this first year teacher fit in and feel welcomed. Since then, we have always stayed in touch and shared our love of Ireland, all things Irish, our ancestry and genealogy. Her love of her family, especially her mother, her siblings, her nephews and nieces, her aunts, uncles and cousins as well as her chosen daughter was heart warming and so so obvious. I have followed her journey through Illness on Facebook and we often chatted. When she joined the YMCA, I was thrilled to see her more often when she would come for her swims and I would make sure the aquatic wheel chair or lift were out to make her visits easier and more enjoyable.
The strength she exhibited have inspired me to be a better person, to live one day at a time and to enjoy those around me more, to appreciate the smaller things in life.
Rest in peace dear friend, I am sure your Mum, sister and brother were waiting for you with open arms and with a lobster roll from Deluxe! God bless all who mourn her loss.
Geoff
