Obituary of Lois "Jean" Leavitt
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS THE FUNERAL HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY AT 12 PM
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lois “Jean” Leavitt which occurred on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Bobby’s Hospice, with her loving family by her side. Born on November 30, 1938 in Blacks Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Lois (Seamons) Cooke.
Jean’s passion in life was singing, playing guitar and dancing. She was in a band with her friend Debbie and she enjoyed playing BINGO. Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, who above all, enjoyed visits from her many grandchildren.
Jean will be remembered by children: Allison (Carol) Leavitt, Judy (Stan) Whipple, Kelly Childs and Debbie Doucette, her partner Clem Hickey, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her siblings: Sally, Gail, Jerry, John (Brenda) and Burton (Kathy).
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her son David Leavitt, daughter Connie McVicar and siblings: Vance, Lawrence, Junior, Rufus, Violet, Janice and Wendell.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 12 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
