Jacqueline and family
I knew Geoff from Kindergarten class of 1966/67 , PES and then and graduated from SJHS with him in 1979. Altho since then my path has been overseas, I connected often with Geoff vis fb, and most recently at our high school reunion last summer, and also thru my sister Margo Emrich who kept me up to date here in Australia, especially regarding the Irish children etc. I had a long chat with him just a few days before he passed, on fb. May you be blessed with the memories and as proud of his achievements as he was of all of you. Much love from Australis

I will never forget the first time our family met Geoff. We were hosting a child from the Belfast group back in 2006. Due to severe thunderstorms the flight was delayed until the wee hours of the morning. Rather than return home a few of us decided to go to the Route One restaurant off the Mackay highway. One of those joining us was Geoff. He was so comical and had us all in stitches and made the time fly by so fast. We got to know Geoff better when we started helping out with the Belfast group. Then we joined the Y and who was at the front desk with a big hello but Geoff. Everytime we came to the Y and Geoff was on the desk( which seemed like all the time) he always had so many stories about his family and his dogs. I also remember how happy he was hosting his Sunday family dinners. My husband and I felt like he was a friend and we enjoyed following his posts on FB. We will really miss him

My many memories of Geoff are the fondest of ones. Geoff and I go way back to the early 60's. We met in kindergarten. In Mrs Fairweather's class on Mt. Pleasant Ave. We became friends instantly. Time moved on and we were in Elementary School at PES. We continued on through and into junior high school. Then off to SJHS. We had our different circle of friends but we always remained connected through time. After university I went into x ray school. Geoff was doing his teaching degree. We went down different paths. I then moved away. But when I returned for visits yearly we always met up. I have remained good friends throughout the years with Geoff. I am so.proud of his accomplishments and his family life. He has done so much and touched the lives of so many, the void will be very great. My heart aches and my mind is filled with great memories of our time together. I wish Geoff's family the power of healing from this great loss. My thoughts are with you all at this time and I hope when you have a service that I will be able to attend and pay the respects Geoff truly deserves. Goodnight my sweet friend. May you rest easy. Much love. Your friend Bryna Burtch (Bloom ). Photo is from 1985.

Mr. Vail was one of my favourite teachers. He always had me laughing. He'd come into class, shaking his head at something someone did down the hall and calling out his or her lack of contribution to a civilized world. The best was when that person was a fellow teacher! He wouldn't hold back in front of us and that made it even better! I was fortunate enough to reconnect with him last year at the Y and thankfully he hadn't changed one little bit. He was the same Mr. Vail I remembered from SJHS. To his family and friends I send my sincere condolences. He will be missed.
