From the board of directors, management, and staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home, caring thoughts are with you. Monte is sadly missed. We have many wonderful memories of her. She was so kind and caring, wise and full of grace. She shared many interesting stories and had a very giving heart. She was the head of news and views, resident council, and attended our gala dinners. I remember one year she bid on a pair of designer sunglasses and then donated them back. She supported rotary by buying maple syrup and fruitcakes to give away as gifts, she was interested in the Royal family and politics and writing letters to the paper snd politicians about topics that concerned her. She was a friend to many.

Monte shared her room with my mom for the last few years at Rocmaura. She was always helpful when I called to speak to my mom as Monte helped mom with the phone. I always appreciated Monte's thoughtfulness. Mike and I send our condolences to all her family. She was an interesting lady. RIP Monte

Like many children going to the dentist I was terrified sitting on those benches at New Albert School. As each child went in you slid along the horse shoe placed benches and listened to all that was happening in the room right behind you. There were tears and crying and by the time it was your turn to go in your nerves were shot. Dr Mooney had plenty of work to do in my mouth and I am grateful for her wisdom and heroic efforts to save my teeth. Wonder what she would have thought to know that I became a dental assistant. A job I loved and excelled at for over 30 years. Thank You for your wisdom and the drive home in your Volvo once after passing out in your chair.

Monte was very special to me, as I am sure she was to many. She had a way of touching your heart and making you feel like you were special, when your intent was to make her feel like she was special.
We spent many occasions chatting about her life and interests, which were many and varied. I loved listening to her. What a sharp mind she had, and a capacity for generosity that touched many people's lives, but she would never say that. She was humble about herself and her contributions to our community.
Monte touched many of us here at Rocmaura. She represented the Residents' interests very well as Resident Council President, she took an interest in our families and would inquire about them often, and she took an interest in us that touched our hearts. She was like a close aunt or grandmother to many of us and I will miss her presence in my life. But, I am thankful. Thankful for her presence, her love of being useful, her perseverance, her sense of right and wrong, and her ability to make her mind known (even to the Prime Minister; I once saw a letter she was writing to him because she wanted the SNC Lavalin situation handled properly. That was who she was).
As I cried over Monte, I could see her in heaven saying, "There now, its alright". That was also who she was; she would have been so touched by how many loved her but she would have told us, she's just fine in her new house with God.
Rest well Monte.

I was very sorry to hear the news about Monte. Monte was my godmother and was very kind to me. She had many interests and made a point of sharing these interests with me and my siblings. I still have a coin collection that she gave me when I was very young as well as a set of encyclopedias on insects and animals. After I was married, she continued to share her interests with my children. She sent books on insects and animals to them. All of us benefited from her engagement with the world around her. I had lost touch with her after my mother’s death so I was very glad to hear that her last years were happy ones. I feel very fortunate to have known her. She was a wonderful role model for young women and a lovely, thoughtful person.

I met Dr. Mooney, in 1964 as a terrified 8 year old with a broken tooth, at her clinic located in New Albert School, she was very patient and kind. My condolences to her family.
