James "Bones" O'Hara

Obituary of James "Bones" O'Hara

The death of James “Bones” O’Hara of Rothesay, cherished husband of Linda (Fournier) O'Hara, occurred on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born on December 23, 1952 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Gerard and Bernice (Nisbet) O’Hara.

Prior to retiring, Bones was employed as a maintenance engineer with Scotsburn.  He took great comfort in being outdoors, where he especially enjoyed fishing and gardening.  He was a fan of The Beatles and a lover of all music.  Most of all, he treasured the times spent with those he loved and will always be lovingly remembered.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Bones will be sadly missed by his siblings, Fran Campbell, Leo (Mary), Gerard (Bonnie), Paul (Lynn), Anna (Mark Nicol), Hugh (Pauline), Susan Landry (Morris) and Christopher; along with several nieces and nephews.

Bones’ family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of the Oncology Department, especially to Drs. Michael and Thompson for their exceptional care.  Also, a sincere thank you to the nurses of Kennebecasis Extra Mural, the entire staff of the Palliative Care Department and to Dr. MacDonald for the care and support that was always shown towards Bones and his family.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service but to quote James, we will celebrate his life “later.”  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SJRH Oncology Department c/o the SJRH Foundation.

“Though I know I’ll never lose affection…I know I’ll often think about them…

In my life, I’ve loved them all.” The Beatles
