You can see the joy on our Dad's face when on, Friday October 19, 2001 He received the "Dutch Medal".given to him by the Dutch Ambassador J. G. van Hellenburg Hubar and Lt. Col Leo van den Heuvel I'd like to share my sorrow with all my brothers and sisters including Rose Hawkins and Talmen Turner. So quickly our lives pass. So fast and changing as the years. At least I can be thankful that he will be honoured in a public way - and in such a way that he would have been very glad of. A recognition of his service. Our Dad was a Major and a great soldier.
I was so sorry to learn of Clyde's death. I was not aware he died until a few months ago. My husband Byron would have been very distressed at this. We went up to Ridgewood to visit him. He was such a nice man. He used pick us up on the way to Dominion Park when we were kids. We exchanged Christmas cards for years. He would come into our office and show me pictures of the gardens. I hope he and Byron meet up in heaven because they're both there.
I am very sorry to hear of the passing of a good mam, Clyde Shepherd. I enjoyed working with Clyde and talks we had. He was a true gentleman. Condolences to all his family.
Every time Ed Mchanon and I went to Ridgewood for a meeting, we try to visit with Clyde, but Covid -19 stop the trips to Ridgewood, he was always a gentleman. I'm going to miss the visit with him,
It was a true honour to have met Clyde. He was the kindest, most compassionate gentleman that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We all miss you Clyde...rest in peace.
