Obituary of John David Cunningham
It is with sadness that the family of John David Cunningham of Saint John announce his passing which occurred at his home on Saturday, November 28, 2020.
David leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Darlene (Kerr) Cunningham. Also left to mourn his passing is his daughter, Patti Daley (Eric); son, Chris Cunningham (Sherry); five adored grandchildren, Natasha, Chyanne, Sebastian, Sidney and Bethany; along with six precious great-grandchildren. David was predeceased by his parents, John LeRoy and Clara (McLean) Cunningham.
Prior to retirement, David was employed as a stationary engineer with Lantic Sugar. This was a career he truly enjoyed and where many friendships were made. David always took great comfort in his faith and was an active member and elder of Grace Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved to camp and garden. David always enjoyed fixing anything and everything and loved antique cars. Most of all, he treasured the times spent with those he loved and will be greatly missed.
In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no visitation and the funeral service will be held privately from Grace Presbyterian Church. For those not in attendance, the service will be livestreamed on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM and can be viewed by visiting Grace Presbyterian Church on Facebook. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
David’s family wish to thank Dr. Bewick, Dr. Kristoffersen, Rev. Dr. John Crawford and Jane Boyd Aucoin. The care, guidance and love shown towards David and our family will never be forgotten.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, Canadian Cancer Society or Grace Presbyterian Church. Online remembrances and condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
