It is with sadness that we have learned of Rilma's passing (MMM news Travel World). Although we only had the privilege of meeting Rilma later in life at Travel World, we will cherish our fond memories - step dances, 45's in the hall, walks in the park, .... We do wish to express our condolences to Glen and Maxine.

I remember Mrs. Mitton so well! She was my Grade 4 teacher and one of my favourites! She was the first person to realize I desperately needed glasses so one night she called my Mom and told her that I was moved to the front of the classroom but I was still having problems seeing the blackboard. She told my Mom I had great promise but not if I had vision problems. The next day I went to Grand Falls and got new glasses ... the rest is history. I always thought she was one teacher who inspired me to continue my education and I guess she succeeded ... it took many years but I did a Bachelors, Masters and PhD, always remembering her telling me at a young age that I could take my education as far as I wanted. She sure was right. I hope her family know she played a big part in this kid’s life. She was an amazing teacher ... strict but fair. My sympathies to her family. She’ll always be remembered!
